We've changed a few things on the Bad Company 2 server and also fixed a critical bug that would give uses the INIT failure PB message. We are still tweaking some settings and testing them.
Another suprise we'll be adding another server to our Bad Company 2 selection in the next few hours. Lots of work is going on including keeping those L4D 2 guys in the loop as well.
We've discovered a few problems with the server due to commands not going through correctly. We are in discussion about what changes are needed.
So far we've learned that the auto balance doesn't stay in place and have found a way to fix this. A few other possible problems are in talks and we plan to update within the next day or two.
Without futher delay we present you with the Bad Company 2 Server. We are still in the process of setting up all the options. Because this could take a few extra days, we will not turn off the server until we know what changes we make are OK.
On the other hand we would greatly appreciate your feedback on what you'd like changed on the server such as maps, modes, etc... Simply post in the forums in the "Battlefield" section.
If you haven't noticed over 2 MILLION people have downloaded Bad Company 2 Demo. I feel much better that this game will put us on a better track then what MW2 ran us into!
Has anyone tried the demos yet and if so, what has changed or improved from the beta?
"We couldn't be more thrilled to hear that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is already in the hands of almost 2 million gamers, and it hasn't even shipped yet." That statement from Patrick Bach, Senior Producer on EA and DICE's eagerly awaited shooter, is doubly impressive when you realize that he's not talking about the PC version -- he's talking about the demo that was recently shared with Xbox Live and PlayStation Network users.
Having reached over two million downloads within a span of five days, the Bad Company 2 teaser is "on pace to become the fastest downloaded demo in EA history," at least according to the Big Company behind it. With the PC beta netting "hundreds of thousands" of sign-ups too, it seems the overt confidence isn't misplaced. But come March 2nd, will all those downloads translate to an impressive, post-Modern impact?
If there's one thing uglier than the console wars, it's the console war game ... wars.

[Expletive Deleted] posted this in the support area:
Hey Everyone -
We are aware of several users reporting crashing when attempting to connect to certain hosts in multiplayer after the latest update to Modern Warfare 2 on PC.
It appears this was an issue with the latest Steam Client and not the PC patch we just released. Steam has identified the issue and updated it. We attempted to repro the problem since their update and it appears to be addressed. However that change is only available in the Beta version of their Steam client (which is available to all users if they choose in their Steam settings). We have no ETA on when they'll be rolling it out to their standard Steam client but will keep you posted if I hear anything further.
Any user currently on the beta version of the Steam Client should have the problem resolved -- likewise, when it's pushed to the standard client -- it will be resolved for all users.
We appreciate all the feedback on the issue. Thanks!
[Expletive Deleted] also confirmed that the beta client does correct the lag and disconnect issues. No ETA on this fix being done on the live client.
For those really suffering from this, you may try the beta client of Steam.
UPDATE
Steam just released an update with the fix for the non-beta client:
